Incredibly helpful owners

Incredibly helpful owners who made us very welcome and went beyond the call of duty by far when one of us needed a hospital check-up. Carlos went with us, explained the situation and ensured we got good attention - even on a Sunday morning! Staying there was a complete oasis of peace and quiet in a busy city. Only wish we could have stayed longer! Chris UK

Delightful oasis of calm with excellent customer service and friendliness

The rooms and atmosphere of this beautifully restored colonial house with stupendous patio garden were absolutely wonderful. Beds were comfortable, all the en-suite facilities worked well, a fridge was provided and stocked with drinks it was possible to buy (saved going out to find bottled water for instance on arrival). it was very central (just around corner from main square) but quiet inside. They arranged for our hire car to be watched safely parked overnight in next street, and helped us with luggage. Carmen made excellent food (we are vegetarians or fish eaters, and she was happy to cater for that). The table was romantically set out for dinner by candlelight right next to the garden. Carlos was incredibly helpful on the Sunday morning when one of us needed hospital tests. He gave up his time to go with us and organised it all within half an hour (all credit to the doctors and other staff there too!) Their hospitality was second to none. Can't recommend it highly enough. p

Had a great time at Carmen and Carlo's La Pergola Casa

Had a great time at Carmen and Carlo's La Pergola Casa. It is centrally located, not far from the main square where most of the evening activity takes place. The Casa is a beautiful old colonial mansion dating back to 1902, Carlos has done a wonderful job in renovations to bring it back to it's prior splendour. Meals were great - we eat breakfasts and evening meals here - the fish was massive! We only stayed 2 nights - due to the limited tourist activities in the Santa Clara area - however if you need to stopover in Santa Clara this Casa is well recommended! Ken McLeod Canada

Great casa

We spent three nights over a two week period with Carlos and Carmen at “La Pergola” and it was one of our most delightful experience after seven trips to Cuba. They are gracious and simple hosts, the food is great and the casa is ideally located near the centre of action in Santa Clara: Parque Vidal. Yet, it is very quiet and relaxing with a central courtyard graced by a fountain and some lovely birds. If your Spanish is not up to par, Carlos’ English is getting better and he will meet you halfway there. They were most reliable in meeting us at the airport and bus station and more than fair in terms of price. The casa itself is a gem, a real museum. (With hot water to boot). I have no hesitation in recommending “La Pergola”. David Montreal

This would be the place to stay in Santa Clara

Carlos Obregon and his lovely wife, Carmen, who live and manage this lovely place are the ultimate hosts who will do so much to ensure your stay with them is most enjoyable. They will also provide other help about places to stay, to visit, and information about the city. I can't speak too highly of them. And at the same price others are asking for poor accommodation. bostonj1 Victoria BC Canada

A truly wonderful place to stay

I can't say enough about the warmth and assistance I received from Carlos and Carmen. Their lovely house, with two rooms to rent (private bathrooms) and the gorgeous restored colonial house which they so generously share with their guests. A truly wonderful place to stay. Georgina Kirkman Canada

Monument to the Armoured Train

At only 400 meters from our private house, La Auténtica Pérgola, is located this monument to the bravery and courage of the troops led by Che, who caused the train derailment, as part of the fight against the Batista tyranny.
