Auténtica Pérgola Hostal & Restaurant-Bar

I stayed at this casa particular for 3 days and I was made really welcome and everyone was very friendly and polite. The family are very courteous and professional, and their house is muy bonita! The room I stayed in was lovely and the garden was sooo beautiful, my favourite part of the casa. The food served was excellent and plentiful, and the family helped me with arranging a trip/tour and getting back to Havana. We stayed here while doing a 1000 mile road trip around Cuba and this casa summed up exactly what we were looking for: a taste of real Cuba with refinements thrown in. The casa has been sympathetically renovated and provides an oasis of calm to retreat to. The food, service & atmosphere were all outstanding. Carlos & Carmen were consummate hosts and Carmen even took the day off to accompany us on a highly amusing goose-chase to Sagua La Grande and Encrujiada to discover the birthplace of my great grandfather who was born in Cuba. After many wrong turns we actually found the very place where he was born (the building was no longer there however.) I'm sure Carlos would have loved to come too, but someone had to 'hold the fort'. By the end of our stay we felt they were true friends & quite seriously if they ever want to stay with us in London, there is an open invitation for them to do so. Casa la Pergola is right in the centre of Santa Clara, fully restored, nicely decorated and with a lovely green patio complete with a little fountain and even colourful birds! Our room was cool: no wonder with ceilings at almost six meters high! The hosts Carlos and Carmen very attentive and pleasant. Santa Clara is a crossroads, commercial town, its main interest of course everything relating to El Che. L'Hostal Auténtica Pérgola è un gioiello nel cuore di Santa Clara, a poche decine di metri dal Parque Vidal. Le stanze sono ampie, arredate con gusto e dotate di tutti i comfort (bagno, aria condizionata, frigorifero, etc.). Splendido il patio sul quale si affacciano le stanze: una piccola oasi di verde che, in qualsiasi momento della giornata, in compagnia di un buon libro e nella comodità delle ampie sedie a dondolo in ferro battuto, invita al relax più completo, a volte interrotto, ma non spiacevolmente, dai versi dei coloratissimi pappagalini. L'ospitalità (e la disponibilità) di Carmen e Obregón è squisita, così come i pasti che, a richiesta, preparano per gli ospiti: ottime elaborazioni della cucina tipica locale che nulla hanno da invidiare ai migliori ristoranti e paladares segnalati sulle guide. We found this real nice place by accident, and it was perfect, just 50 m away from the main city place. Carmen and Obregón are the Pergola angels, helpful, real nice and they made a paradise out of this wonderful building. Estuvimos durante un día, que nos supo a poco, en la casa de Carmen, nos la había recomendado un amigos de Trinidad, la verdad que acertaron de pleno. La Pérgola es una preciosa casa, cómoda, céntrica y con una atención especial, tanto la cena que hicimos en el patio, como el desayuno fueros estupendos, íntimos y con detalle en todo.
